Ferrari in a Glass: Colle Manora Rosso Barchetta

Inspired by the classic Ferraris of Italy, this Piedmontese Cabernet Sauvignon based blend is reminiscent of the sleek yet powerful performance of Italy’s treasured racecar. A touch of Merlot and Barbera helps soften the edges in this intense wine, which is grown in clay heavy soils on southeast-facing slopes. Eight months in large barriques and a full year of bottle age adds complexity before bottling.

Its ripe aromas of currants, dark cherries, figs, iron and dark chocolate lend intense flavor to its chewy, full-bodied mouth feel. The cabernet sauvignon grape provides the structure and framework here, yet the overall heart and soul of this wine is undeniably Italian. One sip evokes images of vineyards, olive trees and sun-drenched landscapes inspiring pairings with hearty ragus and stews, cured meats and hard cheeses.

There’s nothing typical about this cabernet and that’s why we dig it. If you love earthy rustic Italian reds with some weight and tension this one delivers.
